Before we go into the benefit of Chiropractic care for Patients suffering from car accident injuries, it is important to go over what steps to take after a car/motor vehicle accident (MVA) in Ontario.

If it’s your first time being in a Car/Motor vehicle Accident (MVA) or been in multiple Accidents, it is important to remain calm. Safety should be the first priority after an MVA especially in a busy city like Toronto, where traffic is unpredictable and can pose a danger whenever someone is leaving their vehicle.

What should you do after a MVA (Adapted from Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario)?

1. Reminding yourself to be mindful and calm will allow you to recognize when it is safe to stop your vehicle and if you have passengers, check to see if anyone is injured including yourself.

2. When it is clear and safe to do so, get out of the vehicle to record as much information as possible taking pictures and videos of the scene and damage.

3. Whenever possible, move your vehicle to the shoulder of the road.

When should I call the Police after a MVA in Toronto, Ontario?

The FSRA recommends to call the police if:

• There are injuries (Note: If there are injuries, do not move the victim(s). Wait for help to arrive)

• The total damage to all vehicles involved appears to be more than $2,000

• You suspect any drivers involved may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol

• The FSRA is a independent regulatory agency of the Government of Ontario. One of the roles of FRSA is to regulate & supervise the Property/casualty insurance sector in Ontario, including car insurance, to protect Ontarians.
